Oxford Journals is a division of Oxford University Press, which is a department of Oxford University. We publish well over 200 academic and research journals covering a broad range of subject areas, two-thirds of which are published in collaboration with learned societies and other international organizations. Our mission, as part of the University, is to bring the highest quality research to the widest possible audience. We have been publishing journals for more than a century, and as part of the world’s oldest and largest university press, have more than 500 years of publishing expertise behind us.

Working in partnership

Oxford Journals is working with over 100 society partners to maximize the global reach of journals published by us on their behalf. We also engage with librarians through advisory groups and other means to ensure that we continue to meet their changing needs.

Providing quality and value

An integral part of our scholarly mission is to publish journals of the highest quality, which is demonstrated by their impact factor rankings. According to the 2007 Journal Citation Reports, one fifth of our titles are in the top 10% and over two thirds in the top 50% of their subject category.Our journals are great value as well as high quality. LISU’s 2007 study of eleven leading publishers reveals that in 2006 Oxford Journals had the lowest price per page and the lowest price per point of impact factor.

We’re not afraid to do things differently

One of the first publishers to experiment with open access, we are sharing our results with the academic community. Our research is enabling an evidence-based understanding of the implications of this business model on scholarly research dissemination.

We think globally

For us, sharing knowledge is not just for the privileged few. We offer free or greatly reduced online access to many of our journals in the world’s poorest countries. So far more than 2500 educational institutions have benefited.
