This is a platform that enables library patrons to get direct help from the Librarian in charge of the reference desk. The platform permits queries in the form of live chart (for brief factual questions) and email messaging. Inquires can also be done through telephone and in person.


Digital repositoryDspace@Strathmore University

Access past editions of thesis, projects and examination papers online through SU-portal. This is an institutional repository of Strathmore University that facilitates deposit, preservation and distribution of digital content. The purpose of SU portal is to avail digital formats of Strathmore University’s literary warrant (Thesis, Dissertations, Past Papers among others).

Note: Dspace is only accessible within Strathmore University compound. efforts are underway to allow off-campus access.

  • Sage online journals: SAGE journals cover information in all academic disciplines

  • World Bank E-library: which has over 2000 e-books, working papers and  journal titles on governance, economics and development.

  • Gale Thomson: which has Expanded Academic ASAP articles on all major academic disciplines.

  • OECD: which is an online library of statistical databases, books and periodicals on economics.

  • World Bank Data-Catalog: which provides free access to more than 2,000 development statistics articles on financial, business, health, economic and human development. An initial 330 indicators are available in French, Spanish and Arabic.


LibXStrathmore University Edition

The Library has implemented a new catalog search plugin (LibX) for Internet Explorer and Firefox. The idea is that users with the plugin installed no longer have to first navigate to http://www.library.strathmore.edu to start searching Library resources.

LibX comes with a toolbar that allows users to quickly search Strathmore University Library's online catalog, e-journals, articles, and databases directly from their browsers windows. How to install libX

Firefox edition: The Firefox version of LibX works with Firefox versions 1.5.x, 2.x, or 3.x on Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux. To do an installation, follow the steps below:

Step 1: Go to http://libx.org/editions/libxtestedition.php?edition=8625D910 and download the Firefox  edition

Step 2: You will get a warning about allowing Libx.org to install software on your computer - click on the button 'allow'

Step 3: Click on 'install now' in the window that follows.

Step 4: Click on the button 'Restart Mozilla' in the window that follows.

Step 5: After browser restart you will now have an additional toolbar titled LibX SU with search options similar to those in the default search in OPAC.

Internet explorer edition: The Internet Explorer version of LibX works with Internet Explorer versions 6 or 7.  To install Lib X in internet explorer, follow the steps below:

Step 1: Go to download page http://libx.org/editions/libxtestedition.php?edition=8625D910 then select the Internet Explorer  edition

Step 2: Internet Explorer may display a "File Download - Security Warning" dialogue box and ask "Do you want to run or save this file?"  To install the LibX add-on, click the "Run" button.

Step 3: The LibX for IE Setup Wizard will then begin.   Follow the prompts through the Wizard to install LibX for IE.  At the end, click "Finish" to complete the Wizard, view the Installation Notes, and, optionally, start Internet Explorer.
